How To Tell If You Have Pure Love

Love is the highest form of energy. Love has the power to heal, to influence, and to empower. The things we see in the movies offer only a fraction of the total capacity of unconditional love. What is it? How do you know if you have it?

To Have Pure Love is to Love Yourself Purely

We have read many incarnations of the Golden Rule. In its essence, “love others as you would love yourself.” This phrase is a basic math formula. You cannot love others any more than you love yourself. If you don’t fully love yourself, you can’t fully love others.

If you don’t fully love yourself, you can’t fully love others.

Love doesn’t judge. Love accepts wholly and embraces unconditionally. If you cannot love yourself 100% without hesitation, it is IMPOSSIBLE to love others fully,. This fact applies to your partner, your family, and even your pet. If you think you love them with all your heart, but if you don’t love yourself without judgment, you don’t fully love them.

Love Doesn’t Judge Actions, Past or Present

Specific phrases are a no-go when it comes to loving yourself:

  • I can’t believe I did something so stupid.
  • I really let myself down.
  • I’m an idiot.
  • I can’t do anything right.
  • I’m useless.

You wouldn’t say these things to a child. Why not take care of your inner child? Why not nurture yourself and love yourself? You are worthy of love. You are worthy of loving others.

These example phrases are brutal, but so are the small, seemingly innocuous words that don’t seem harmful. Comments that may sound like encouragement are, in reality, unloving. Things like, “I need to exercise more” or “I should stop watching television” sound truthful, but they don’t accept yourself unconditionally. You can be imperfect, but you must love yourself perfectly.

You can be imperfect, but you must love yourself perfectly.

You Are Not Your Thoughts, So Don’t Judge Those Either

The phrases above may come into your mind, but they don’t define who you are. Thoughts are born from a space that doesn’t express you as a being. When you begin to believe those thoughts, then you start the process of defining yourself. See the thoughts as just that: thoughts. Watch them float along. When you begin to drift along with them, detach and bring yourself to the present moment. You can say to yourself, “I am not my thoughts.”

The world is full of programming: advertisements, campaigns, and other media. We must take charge of programming ourselves instead of allowing the outside world to influence us. We MUST decide to love ourselves first.

Your past may not be perfect. Your actions today may not be as desired or predicted. You may not look different and feel different than other people. But you are perfect. You are worthy of love. If you want the capacity to love others, and in turn, want others to love you, you must fully love yourself first.
