This is the Limit of Your Creative Energy

Bottom line: there are no limits to your creative energy. The proof is in a paradox. With an increase of perceived limitations, your creative life thrives. Biz Stone, the co-founder of Twitter, wrote in his book “Things a Little Bird Told Me” that “Constraint inspires creativity.” Think about it. We’ve seen everything from art created to countries run through a medium that imposes limitations — transformational energy in 140 characters or less.

One of my favorite characters in the television show ‘What We Do in the Shadows’ is the day-walking vampire that drains energy instead of blood. This vampire is effective through excessive talking and over-welcomed lingering. The real-life vampire that drains our creative energy is the past.

Past failures, past dead ends, and past outcomes are engines that suck away the power of a bountiful creative future. Nothing influences creative energy as does the drain from past experience. Energy drawn from the present moment is ever-giving and boundless. It is abundant.

I’m a fan of James Altucher’s method of writing a list of ten things daily. If you want to become a millionaire, write down ten ways that you will make this happen. If you are struggling with writer’s block, come up with a list of ten things you will write. As Altucher says, “If coming up with ten ideas sounds too hard, then come up with twenty.”

The more you exercise creativity, the more it multiplies. Creativity is a well that you can never deplete. When your back is against the wall, there’s always a way out. Life is another version of a dream. In dreams, if you’re aware that you are dreaming, you can alter “reality” and are only constrained by your imagination. In life, what you believe is the only constraint to your reality.

I write things people like to read. I try to challenge and inspire, but sometimes I offend. Let’s have some fun. Connect here: https://linktr.ee/ryandejonghe
